Please would parents drop their KS1 child off at the top entrance door, by the pirate ship on the KS1 playground. This door will be for all KS1 classes to use to come into school. If you have a message for your child's teacher there will be a member of staff on duty to take messages to your child's class teacher
The school day will end at 3.15pm and the children will be dismissed from separate doors along the playground. We would like parents to continue to queue by their child's cloakroom door at the end of the day as we found this to be an efficient, calm and safe way to say goodbye to the children at the end of the day. There will be plenty of staff on duty for the first week to help the children to settle into the routines, find the correct door and to answer any questions if you have them.
Walk to School Initiative
We would like to encourage families to walk to school or to use a ‘Park and Stride’ approach to travelling to school. If you are unable to walk the whole journey to school, please park a short distance away and walk the remaining distance. Possible places to park include the recreation groundand the Arkenstall Centre.
If you have a Key Stage 1 and a Key Stage 2 child, please drop off your eldest child first at the main KS2 gate and then walk to the Key Stage 1 playground.
When collecting your child at the end of the day, please collect your youngest children first.
Late to collect
Occasionally parents are a few minutes late to collect children due to unforeseen circumstances like traffic delays etc. Do always ring/email ahead to let us know you will be late, if you can, but don't worry, we will keep children who are waiting in the reception area with adult supervision. The same would apply if we have to cancel an after-school club but you are unable to make alternative arrangements in the time available.
This does not affect our duty of care to inform social care if a child is not collected and we cannot contact a known adult within the permitted period of time of 45 minutes according to our protocol for children not collected from school.
