Jupiter's Roman Clay Lamps

As a finale to their topic on 'The Romans', years 5 and 6 spent a day making clay lamps.

There's nothing like a bit of clay work to get the children excited and adsorbed.  After an introduction and demonstration on how to make an authentic clay lamp just like 'The Romans' would have used the children got stuck in!

The children really enjoyed making the lamps and the results were fantastic!  Amazingly there was very little mess made and the children had lovely day. The lamps have gone to be fired now,  but hopefully we will have them back soon.
